Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 28, 2026
Last updated: October 28, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Further Triennial Inc. (“Further,” “we,” “our” and/or “us”) collects, uses and shares information when you visit furthertriennial.org, or use our web application for mobile devices, (“Website”), create a user account on our website (“User Account”), (the “Service”). If you have questions, email us at privacy@furthertriennial.org.

The short version: you can browse the Website without a User Account. If you create a User Account, we use your email address to sign you in and, only if you choose, to send our newsletter. Your bookmarks stay private unless you share a list, and shared lists show your username, never your real name. If you allow marketing cookies, advertising partners such as Meta and Google may use cookies and pixels on our Website to measure our campaigns and show you Further ads on other websites and apps. We do not sell your personal information for money.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account information. Your email address, the username you choose, and your zip code if you choose to provide it. We use passwordless sign-in, so we do not collect or store a password.
  • Newsletter information and choice. Your email address, when you sign up for our newsletter. We also retain information on whether you opted in to our newsletter at account sign-up or at a different time.
  • Messages. Other information you choose to send us when you email or contact us.
  • Bookmarks and lists. The artists, artworks, events or venues you save to your User Account, and any list you create or choose to share.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and log data. The following information is automatically collected when you visit our Website: your IP address, browser type, operating system, pages requested, referring page, and dates and times of visits. Our servers and error-tracking tools record this to keep the Service running.
  • Approximate location. When you visit our Website, a city- or region-level location is estimated from your IP address. We do not collect precise GPS location. When you tap an NFC tag, we record the tag, the associated exhibition/venue location, and the date and time that you selected the NFC tag, which are linked to your User Account.
  • Usage data and Cookies. When you visit our Website, we receive information about which pages you view, what you search for, what you click, and how long you stay on the Website. This information is collected through Google Analytics when you allow analytics cookies and through advertising pixels and tags (Meta Pixel, Google Ads, and DoubleClick Floodlight) when you allow marketing cookies. These tools do not collect data until you have made your choice in our consent banner.

Information stored only on your device

If you bookmark items on our Website without a User Account, those bookmarks are saved in your browser’s local storage. They are not sent to us until you create a User Account or sign in to an existing User Account, at which point we copy them to your User Account.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as government ID numbers, financial account details, health information or precise geolocation.

2. How we use information

  • To provide the Service: sign you in to your User Account, keep you signed in, save and sync your bookmarks, and publish lists you choose to share.
  • To run points and distribute Collect Them All artist patches: credit NFC check-ins to your User Account, track points, and award Collect Them All artist patches.
  • To email you: send sign-in codes and messages about your User Account (these are required for a User Account), and send the newsletter only if you opted in.
  • To understand and improve the Service: see which pages and features people use, find broken pages, and plan improvements to the Website and the exhibition experience.
  • To promote Further: measure how people find us and how our campaigns perform, and, if you allow marketing cookies, show you Further ads on other websites and apps (remarketing). Our advertising partners, such as Meta and Google, may combine information from their pixels with other information they hold to show our ads to you and identify other people who may be interested in Further (sometimes called algorithmic or lookalike targeting).
  • To keep the Service secure: detect errors, abuse and fraud, including abuse of the points program.
  • To meet legal obligations: respond to lawful requests and enforce our terms.
