Blunk Space presents a two-person exhibition featuring new paintings by London-based artist Peter McDonald alongside historic paintings by Gordon Onslow Ford. Onslow Ford was a pivotal figure of postwar Bay Area abstraction, attracting important figures to his house boat studio in Sausalito, the USS Vallejo, and later to his property in Inverness, the Bishop Pine Preserve. In addition to gifting land to artists JB Blunk and John Anderson, near the end of his life Onslow Ford established the Lucid Art Foundation, a nonprofit organization that preserves his house and collection and offers artist residencies.

McDonald’s new paintings represent the culmination of his fruitful time at the Lucid Art Foundation in 2025, combining his depictions of modern life interlaced with intense color, with Onslow Ford’s singular lifestyle outside of modernity and preoccupation with universal forms.
