Better With You is a collaboration featuring audio-inspired works by Andy Rappaport and David Karwan. In their respective bodies of work, these two artists of different generations, geographies, and backgrounds consider their relationship to sound tools, physical and digital media, and how the audience’s presence interprets and completes the work.

The Jones Institute

The Jones Institute is a San Francisco gallery founded in 2018 by Aïda Jones, who reasoned that if her home was already full of artists, she might as well give them their own room. It operates from a private home in Alamo Square and, occasionally, a formal space at Minnesota Street Project.

Things to Do Around Here

  • Third Wheel Coffee started out as a coffee tricycle then became a stand within a sandwich shop before recently finding a storefront of their own on Oak Street. Thankfully the friendly vibe still shines through. Grab a seat outside and try whatever’s on the seasonal menu—they make their own syrups. 991 Oak St, San Francisco

  • The guava tart alone is enough to recommend Sol Bakery. It’s only open Thursday through Sunday but get there early and you really can’t go wrong with whatever’s in the case. 1696 Hayes St, San Francisco

  • I’ve bought everything from Wu-Tang’s Wu-Tang Forever to Coltrane’s A Love Supreme at Originals Vinyl. The shop was opened by two brothers who started out as hip-hop DJS, so every record earns its place on the shelf. They’ll also clean and restore your old records. Great music, great ambiance—not your father’s record store. 701 Fillmore St, San Francisco
