Class of 2100 transforms Harmony House into a speculative arts institution in the year 2100. Presented by the Institute for Diversity in the Arts (IDA), the exhibition responds to the precarity of Bay Area arts education with collective imagination. Stanford alumni Hannah Long and Adaeze Chukwuka create two imagined departments that ask how art, education, and community might evolve amid ecological, political, and social change.

Long’s installation, Department of Ritual Technologies, imagines ritual as part of Stanford’s core curriculum. A room becomes a classroom, laboratory, archive, and community commons holding ritual prototypes, collective altars, botanical experiments, student workbooks, and an evolving Archive of Everyday Sacred Objects. Visitors reflect, interact, and contribute to a communal space that changes throughout the exhibition.

Chukwuka’s Department of Attentiveness centers a wooden sculpture inspired by natural forms the artist encountered while hiking in the Bay Area. Embedded sensors translate movement into live sound: a gesture, stretch, dance, or moment of stillness produces tones, while groups can create harmony together.
